Ashley Gomez, an RLA inclusion teacher and coach at Brownwood Middle School in Brownwood ISD, always knew she wanted a career that involved helping others and making a difference. However, it wasn’t until she worked at a preschool and volunteered with the Special Olympics at a local elementary school that she discovered her passion for teaching. Reflecting on her own school years, she realized she wanted to provide the same support for her students that her teachers had given her.
When Ashley wasn’t sure how to start, a friend recommended iteach. She credits iteach’s support, flexibility, and guidance with helping her make a smooth transition into teaching. In her first year, she became both a coach and an RLA inclusion teacher. Now, after five years, she’s taken on the role of RLA department head while continuing to coach.
For Ashley, the most rewarding part of teaching is building relationships with her students. She believes that strong connections are key to student growth, both inside and outside the classroom. Her dedication to these bonds has made a lasting impact on her students, influencing both their academic success and personal growth.
