State Disclosures
You will find specific disclosures that are provided by the state to ensure you fully understand the background check requirements, the current teacher shortages and consumer information about iteach
Criminal History Background Check
Candidates must undergo a criminal history background check prior to employment as an educator and/or prior to clinical teaching.
iteach does not offer an advisory opinion on one’s criminal history. Since we do not handle the background check, it would be purely speculative.
Various state Administrative Codes will offer information regarding the issuance of certification to individuals with a criminal background. Please check with your state for specific details. However, it will be most difficult to impossible for an individual with certain misdemeanor or felony criminal records, deferred adjudication, or on probationary to obtain a field experience placement. If you have questions regarding your eligibility for hire, it may be in your best interest to consult with private counsel.
Under recent legislation (HB963-Guillen) SBEC is required to issue, upon request, criminal history evaluation letter to persons contemplating entering a profession requiring a license. This will help individuals to determine if they would likely be denied a license/certification because of the criminal histories.

Supply and Demand on the Educator Workforce
Each district will have unique teaching needs through the school year. You may find it difficult to secure a position, such as, EC-6 Core Subjects or a highly specialized content area, therefore it is imperative you visit with districts in your area to see what their areas of need are. You must make yourself as marketable as possible; iteach encourages you to test in more than one content area if you have significant content knowledge pertaining to more than one content area.
