iteach – 20 Years of Teacher Certification
What does a single mother of four teenage boys do if she needs insurance? If she is anything like Dr. Diann Huber, she starts a business. Dr. Huber was already working in an area that she was passionate about, education and teacher certification, and she used that knowledge to create new pathways for teachers to get certified online.
Since its inception, iteach has grown tremendously. What started as a small business in Texas has blossomed into a multi-state certification company employing over 30 full-time employees, 150+ supervisors, and 40 instructors.
iteach is proud of creating an alternative pathway that allows individuals to get certified and prepares them for the classroom without any unnecessary hurdles. The need for teachers across the nation has never been greater, and the impact that iteach has had on teachers, students, and education is immeasurable.
Over the years, iteach has had many teachers become “Teacher of the Year,” and many iteach program completers have continued to advance their careers through iteach principal certification.
iteach is a competency-based educator preparation program that combines the convenience of online learning with the support of face-to-face mentorship. Dr. Diann Huber founded iteach in 2003 to help talented people become teachers while avoiding the high costs and time commitments of some traditional educator preparation programs.
The model she created was so successful at preparing great educators on a large scale that the program grew into iteachU.S. in 2007. Today, iteachU.S. serves Texas, Louisiana, Nevada, Hawaii, Indiana, West Virginia, Florida, Arizona, Tennessee, and D.C., offering state-approved certification programs in each state. In 2012, iteachU.S. earned accreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), now CAEP. iteachU.S. is the first and only non-university educator preparation program to achieve this distinction.
