This July, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Brianna McCook, a dedicated educator at W.W. Robinson Elementary School in Woodstock, VA. Brianna’s journey in teaching has been nothing short of inspiring. Starting her career in January, midway through the school year, she quickly adapted to the challenges and embraced the rewards of her new role.
A profound desire to be an advocate for her students fueled Brianna’s journey into teaching. “I decided to become a teacher because it allows me to give a voice to the voiceless,” she shares. This passion drives her to go above and beyond in ensuring that her students receive the support and encouragement they need.
One of Brianna’s favorite aspects of teaching is the opportunity for continuous learning and the creative challenges it presents. She explains, “Teaching allows me to be a lifelong learner and it challenges my creativity to teach my students in a way they understand.” This mindset is particularly evident in her approach to working with autistic students. Brianna strives to make her lessons both engaging and relatable. Whether it’s using Numberblocks to teach math or incorporating episodes of Bluey for social stories, she finds ways to connect with her students through their favorite shows.
