For Amanda Womble, teaching is a dream that came full circle. As a child, she always envisioned herself in the classroom, but life initially led her down a different path in business and marketing. After her workplace of 20 years closed, she found herself at a turning point. At the same time, her experience raising a child with Autism profoundly shaped her perspective and reaffirmed her calling to education.
“I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl,” Amanda shares. “After becoming a mom, I was inspired by my experience raising a child with Autism. Through that journey, I saw firsthand how powerful patient, compassionate educators can be. I wanted to be that person for other children—to create a safe, encouraging classroom where students feel valued and capable.”
Now a 2nd grade teacher, Amanda brings that same compassion and dedication into her classroom each day.
Building Confidence Through Relationships
The heart of Amanda’s teaching lies in the connections she builds with her students.
“Building meaningful relationships with my students is my favorite part of teaching,” she says. “Watching them gain confidence, celebrate small victories, and learn that they can do hard things is incredibly rewarding.”
Her classroom is a space where encouragement, patience, and trust help students grow both academically and emotionally.
Creating Meaningful Moments
Amanda is passionate about creating lessons that are engaging and inclusive for all learners. Many of her most meaningful moments come from supporting students as they build confidence and find their voice.
“I love creating lessons that are engaging and inclusive for all learners,” Amanda explains. “Some of my most meaningful moments come from supporting students who are building confidence—whether that’s celebrating reading growth, helping a shy student find their voice, or creating a classroom culture where kindness and encouragement are the norm.”
A Well-Deserved Honor
“Teaching is truly my passion, and I feel so fortunate to do this work every day,” Amanda shares. “I’m grateful to be part of a school community that supports students academically, socially, and emotionally, and I’m honored to be recognized by iteach.”
Her journey, shaped by resilience, compassion, and a lifelong love for teaching, is a powerful example of the impact one dedicated educator can have.
