Shoulder Taps – Moved to Connect with Others

I Feel Like I Should Say Something

Have you ever had a feeling that you should say something to someone? That feeling of being compelled to say something nice, or to ask a question? I know I have. There are times when I smell a great fragrance or see a nice dress and I say, “What a pretty dress!” or “What is that fragrance, it smells wonderful!” In almost every instance the person’s face lights up. These small moments might seem random and inconsequential, but they can have a larger impact than we can imagine.

A Simple Act of Kindness

Whether you believe in God or spiritual things at all, this video brings up a great point about being kind to people. It’s amazing to see how people will light up at the smallest compliment. Once when I was going to an event the guy holding open the door told me I had “one of the top 5 smiles he had ever seen.” Of course I responded and tried to down play it by saying, “Awe… thanks, I bet you say that to everyone.” and he said, “No, really, I don’t.” It did cost him anything to pay me that compliment, but it made me feel like a million bucks.

Another great thing about kindness is how when we are kind to others, it is often returned back to us. Not always, but 99% of the time when I have been kind to someone, it made me feel much better than when I wasn’t kind. An example would be when someone cut me off recently and I waved and the person returned the wave with a wave and a sheepish smile. We have all been there. I could have laid on my horn and gotten angry, but why ruin both of our days over a mistake that only took a millisecond?

The video below is very short, but very cute and shows how a simple act of kindness can have a great outcome.

Become a Teacher. Change Lives.

Teachers have the great ability to connect with students in a way that few people can. Listen to your gut when it comes to a student who may need to hear a kind word or a nudge of encouragement. I still remember the teachers who were kind to me. Their kindness is a well that I still dip and drink from to this day.

If you are passionate about impacting the world around you there are few places where you can influence the future as much as a teacher. Teachers have the ability to build students up and set them on a positive course that can have a ripple effect for future generations.

If you are interested in becoming a teacher, check out our online teacher certification process and you could be teaching in a matter of weeks.
