Transcripts

Upload your official transcripts to the Applied #1 box in InstructNet. If you don’t have your transcripts, visit your college or university website and request transcripts from your school’s registrar.

Basic Skills Assessment

Pass Praxis Core or meet one of the alternative methods for providing basic skills information. Click Here for latest testing info.

Coursework

Complete Introductory Course TCWV 5000.

Fees

Pay the $250 enrollment fee.

Agreeement

Testing Requirements

Praxis Core

The West Virginia Department of Education requires either the Praxis I (CORE) exam or evidence of an approved exemption for program eligibility.

If you have completed one of the following, you are not required to have Praxis I (CORE) passed.


The eligible exemptions are:

  • Passed Praxis I PPST – Prior to the approval of the Praxis Core, the Praxis PPST was the approved exam for basic skills.
  • Master’s Degree – Hold a master’s degree (or higher) from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university.
  • SAT combined verbal/critical reading and math score of 1170 or higher prior to 2005.
  • ACT score of 26 or higher

Praxis II Subject Exams

iteach West Virginia offers certifications in many subject areas. You must submit at least one Praxis II passing score in order to be eligible for licensure.
