Below are the requirements for acceptance into the iteach alternative teacher certification program.

Program Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree

You must hold a bachelor’s degree from a nationally or regionally accredited institution of higher education as required by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Louisiana Administration Code.

GPA Requirement

You must have a 2.20 minimum GPA.

Transcripts

Upload your official transcripts to the Applied #1 box in InstructNet. If you don’t have your transcripts, visit your college or university website and request transcripts from your school’s registrar.

Please visit the ETS website to learn more about the exams and verify the correct test number. While additional Praxis exams are listed on the ETS website, we can only assist with certification in the areas listed below.

Teacher Certification Areas in Louisiana

Elementary Education:

  • Multiple Subjects Test Code: 7001
  • Reading and Language Arts Subtest Test Code: 7002 (includes Teaching Reading)
  • Mathematics Subtest Test Code: 7003

Principles of Learning and Teaching:

To pass the Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects test you must receive a passing score on each subtest. If you wish to take all four subtests (7002, 7003, 7004, 7005) at the same time, select Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects (7001) when registering. If you wish to take or retake an individual subtest, you may register to take just that subtest.

This is an integrated/merged program that leads to dual certification. The first Praxis II exam that you take should be in a core content area (Math/Science/English/Social Studies) offered by iteach.

  • Access to a personal (not school) computer
  • Add iteach.net to your contacts list
  • Verification of Work Authorization Status

If not a U.S. citizen, verification of lawful permanent residence and a copy of current Green Card must be provided at the time of application with at least two years of employment eligibility.

 

Outside of United States

Graduate Requirements

Graduates from a university outside the United States or its territories will need to provide:

  • An original Foreign Credential Review from an approved agency. We cannot accept transcripts from a foreign university. The evaluation credential review must include a U.S. equivalency for each credential, a course-by-course analysis, and a GPA of credit hours.
