Requirements for Hawaii Teacher Certification Program Admission
Bachelor’s Degree
You must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university that is recognized by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board and the Hawaii Department of Education.
Minimum GPA
Candidates need a 2.50 in the last 60 hours of college courses. Click here for a calculator.
Transcripts
Upload your official transcripts to the Applied #1 box in InstructNet. If you don’t have your transcripts, visit your college or university website and request transcripts from your school’s registrar.
Coursework
Complete Introductory Course 5000.
Fees
Pay the $10 enrollment fee.
Agreeement
Acknowledge your Letter of Agreement.

Teach the Subject You Want
Candidates must pass the Praxis II for the subject they want to teach. Please refer to the ETS Praxis test overview for Hawaii here to identify the Praxis II, content test, that you will be required to take and pass for state licensure.

Other Requirements
- Correspond using your personal email account
- Access to a personal (not school) computer
- Add iteach.net to your contacts list
- Verification of Work Authorization Status
If not a U.S. citizen, you must provide verification of lawful permanent residence and a copy of your current Green Card at the time of application with at least two years of employment eligibility.
Outside of the United States Graduate Requirements
Graduates from a university outside the United States or its territories will need to provide:
- An original Foreign Credential Review from an approved agency. We cannot accept transcripts from a foreign university. The evaluation credential review must include a U.S. equivalency for each credential, a course-by-course analysis, and a GPA of credit hours.
