Louisiana Praxis II Content Exam Requirement

The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) has informed all educator preparation programs that a passing Praxis II content exam is required before candidates may be enrolled. This is a statewide requirement and applies to all approved programs, including iteach.

Yes. All applicants must submit passing Praxis II content exam scores before they can be admitted into the iteach program.

No. Under the LDOE requirement, iteach cannot admit candidates without verified passing Praxis II content exam scores.

Even if you applied prior to this change, passing Praxis II content exam scores are now required before admission can move forward.

About the Praxis II Content Exam

The Praxis II content exam is a subject-specific assessment administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) that measures your content knowledge in the certification area you are seeking.
No. Praxis Core assesses basic reading, writing, and math skills, while Praxis II evaluates subject-area content knowledge. Only the Praxis II content exam is required for admission and licensure in Louisiana

Taking and Submitting the Exam

Praxis II exams are registered for and administered through ETS.
Passing scores are set by the Louisiana Department of Education and vary by exam.

Instructions for submitting scores will be provided by iteach. Official scores must be received and verified before admission.

You may remain in the Applied stage while you register for and complete the exam. Admission will proceed once passing scores are received and approved in a certification area we offer.

If You Do Not Pass

You may retake the exam. Admission cannot occur until a passing score is submitted.
Retake policies are determined by ETS.

FAQ for Previously Accepted Candidates

The LDOE now requires that all candidates pass the Praxis II content exam before enrollment. If you were previously accepted without Praxis II scores, your status was updated to maintain compliance with this requirement.
No. This is not a denial or removal. It is an administrative update required to meet state regulations.
Yes. Once you submit passing Praxis II content exam scores, your admission process can continue.
