Laura Estes, Ed.D. has a passion for education that began as a first-grade teacher in 1993. Over three decades, Dr. Estes taught across various grades, served as a literacy trainer, and coordinated Title I grants. As Assistant Principal at STEM and Fine Arts magnet schools, Dr. Estes demonstrated leadership in specialized education.

The most recent years were dedicated to serving teachers, leaders, and students through the role of Chief Human Resources Officer where she honed skills in teacher recruitment, retention, recognitions, licensure, evaluations and much more to help build the optimal climate and culture for teaching and learning in schools. Holding licenses in elementary, middle school, pre-K, reading specialist, and K12 administration, Dr. Estes possesses a robust academic background—degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies, a Master’s in Reading, and a Doctorate in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership.

A former Adjunct Professor with William & Mary, Dr. Estes shared expertise in literacy courses for graduate and undergraduate students. Now, as the State Program Director for Virginia with iteach, she is excitedly continuing the journey of transforming education.
