You may apply at any time. iteach enrolls students on a continual basis, and our self-paced coursework means you don’t have to wait for a new semester to start your first class!
You can be admitted to the iteach program with a valid Virginia Collegiate Professional License (CPL) or Post-Graduate Professional License (PPL). As a valid teaching license holder in Virginia, your degree was already evaluated and approved by the Virginia State Department of Education. No additional degree credentials are required.
No, iteach does not participate in federal or state financial aid programs.
iteach Virginia offers the option to add-on an endorsement in Elementary Education PreK-6, Special Education General Curriculum K-12, or Special Education Adapted Curriculum K-12 for any professionally licensed or postgraduate professional licensed teachers. Candidates must identify which endorsement is being sought at the time of application.
Pursuant to the Licensure Regulations for School Personnel, all candidates are required to obtain passing scores on professional teacher’s assessments as prescribed by the Board of Education (BOE). Assessment Requirements for Virginia Licensure can be found on the Department of Education website under Licensing Forms & Information. iteach complies with all BOE required assessments as part of the route to the add-on licensure, and candidates will be provided with test preparation resources and materials through Passage Preparation.
The iteach coursework is self-paced. You can complete all program-required instructional coursework within several months. Once you enroll, you have a maximum of two years to complete the iteach route to add a new endorsement to your license. The iteach provisional license status for the newly sought endorsement area will be issued in one year increments with the option to request the state extend the timeline an additional year, if needed. While the year-long teaching experience is not managed by the iteach program, you must secure a position to move into the Enrolled – Teaching Under a Provisional License status to complete the content methods courses.
