Below are the requirements for acceptance into the iteach Residency Licensure program in North Carolina.

Requirements for Program Admission

Bachelor’s Degree

You must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university.

Transcripts
Upload your official transcripts to the Applied box in your InstructNET portal. If you don’t have transcripts, visit your college or university website and request transcripts from your school’s registrar.
2.7 GPA
You must have a 2.7 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).
Identify your 
Licensure Area
Our admissions team will do a preliminary review of credit hours for your intended licensure area. You can also qualify for any licensure area after admission by passing the required content area exam(s).
Coursework
Complete the North Carolina Introductory Course.
Agreement

Acknowledge your Letter of Agreement.

Fees
Pay your $99 enrollment fee.

Teach the Subject You Want

You can get licensed in any of the content areas that iteach is approved to offer in North Carolina. To earn your Residency License, you must either have completed 24 semester hours of coursework in the requested licensure area or have passed the content area examination(s) required by the N.C. State Board of Education for the requested licensure area. See the North Carolina State Board of Education Approved Testing Requirements for more information.

All content examination(s) and the edTPA must be attempted by the end of the first year of Residency Licensure and passed by the expiration of the second renewal of the Residency License.

Outside of United States

Graduate Requirements

Graduates from a university outside the United States or its territories will need to provide to iteach an original foreign credential review completed by an international education evaluation service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.

The credential evaluation submitted to iteach must include the following information:

  • Verification that one holds the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree granted by an accredited institution of higher education in the United States, including the month, day, and year that the degree was conferred
  • U.S. equivalency for each credential
  • Course-by-course analysis
  • Cumulative GPA of credit hours
